M's Mini-Series: "Puzzled" Gluten-Free Treats with M&M Minis

You can't go wrong with a rice cereal treat! What is better than an easy to make crowd pleaser? M and I took a tried and true recipe and went two steps further to "personalize" our treats. By using a cookie cutter and a tube of M&M minis, we "puzzled" the boring basic bars! Go grab the "Original" recipe here, but be careful with the cereal you use! If you are sensitive to gluten, Kellogg's has stated that their cereals are prone to cross-contamination.

To be sure that we were being 100% gluten-free we double checked our GF "Safe Candy List" and used Erewhon Crispy Brown Rice Cereal. Erewhon cereals are made by a wonderful company called Attune Foods. Attune is committed to producing foods that are protected from cross-contamination!

Side note: Today, M got up before everyone else and got her own breakfast. She had poured herself a bowl of Erewhon's rice cereal. I would say that speaks volumes about how tasty they are! Personally, I like Erewhon's version more than Rice Krispies- better texture and they don't get soggy as fast!

Just follow the basic recipe.  Once it is in the pan, press the M&Ms in and leave it to cool for about 25 minutes.

Looks extra yummy, right?

Once the treats are cooled, simply press a cookie cutter into the pan to create your shapes. We used a puzzle piece cookie cutter from DCC Cakes!

Looks extra yummy AND extra cute, right?

  32. When you think about it the regular rice treats could pass as GF, but the cereal may be produced on equipment or in a facility that processes wheat so it doesn't qualify. This is especially key if you suffer from celiac disease and are very adversely affected by exposure to gluten. Love the puzzle cookie cutter by the way.
